Our Commitment
to the Environment.
At Telgwen, caring for the land around our storage facilities is an important part of what we do. From native woodland planting and wildlife habitats to more considered transport and materials management, we're working to make a practical difference.
Creating Space for Nature.
We've dedicated two acres of land at Telgwen to supporting the local environment.
Alongside our secure storage facilities near Carmarthen, we have established a range of areas intended to encourage wildlife and support biodiversity.
These include a large pond, rewilding areas, wildflower meadows, professionally managed beehives, bug hotels, new native hedgerows and more than fifty planted native trees.
Ethical grazing methods are also part of our approach to managing the surrounding land. This is an ongoing commitment to looking after the environment around us.
Habitats That Support Wildlife.
Our environmental work brings together different habitats and land-management practices, creating opportunities for insects, pollinators, birds and other local wildlife.
Pond & Wetland Areas
A large pond forms part of the land dedicated to nature, providing a different habitat alongside the surrounding meadows and grassland.
Wildflower Meadows
Areas of meadow and rewilding land are managed to encourage wildflowers and create feeding opportunities for pollinating insects.
Native Trees & Hedgerows
More than fifty native trees have been planted, together with hundreds of metres of new native hedgerows, adding vegetation and habitat across the land.
Professionally Managed Beehives
Beehives are professionally managed on the site, forming another part of Telgwen's work with the surrounding natural environment.
Bug Hotels & Insect Habitats
Bug hotels provide additional sheltered spaces for insects, complementing the site's areas of natural vegetation and wildflower planting.
Considered Grazing
Ethical grazing practices form part of how the land is managed, providing an alternative approach to maintaining areas of grassland.
Letting the Landscape Flourish.
Looking after the environment doesn't always mean creating formal gardens or keeping every area closely cut.
By allowing selected areas of grassland and meadow to develop, alongside planting native trees and hedgerows, Telgwen aims to provide a more varied landscape.
- Rewilding areas
- Wildflower-rich grassland
- New native tree planting
- Native hedgerow establishment
- Wildlife-friendly land management
Small Habitats. Lasting Value.
Our professionally managed beehives and bug hotels are part of a wider effort to make space for insects and other wildlife.
Alongside the pond, native planting and rewilding areas, they contribute to a varied landscape around the storage facilities.
The site's grazing arrangements also reflect our intention to manage land thoughtfully and responsibly.
Thinking Beyond the Storage Facility.
Our environmental considerations extend to the way we transport goods and handle specialist equipment and materials.
HVO Transport Option
When customers use Telgwen's van service, we offer the option of hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) fuel by arrangement.
Depending on the fuel's feedstock and production pathway, HVO can offer substantial lifecycle greenhouse-gas savings compared with conventional diesel.
Potential savings of up to around 90% are lifecycle estimates, not a guaranteed reduction for each journey. Fuel choice and availability should be confirmed when booking.
Responsible Theatrical Set Disposal
Telgwen works with theatre and production organisations storing scenery, props and specialist equipment.
When theatrical sets reach the end of their useful life, we aim to handle their disposal as responsibly as practicable.
Where suitable and feasible, this can involve considering reuse, material recovery and appropriate waste-management routes.
The appropriate disposal method depends on the materials involved and the arrangements agreed for each project.
